Our Vision, Values & Aims
Our Christian Vision & Mission Statement
At St Matthew’s, we strive to ensure all members of our school family Flourish in the Fullest Way Possible, John 10:10, guided by the values of our Christian faith. We aim to encourage flourishing on many different levels: academically, spiritually, physically, socially and emotionally, preparing all for the next chapter of life’s journey.
Children, Staff and Governors live out this vision in their daily lives and we believe that every member of the school community has the right to live their life in all its fullness.
Our Aims
| Love | Learn | Grow |
| To provide a nurturing environment where everyone is valued and respected as an individual, celebrating our differences, as part of God’s creation. To foster and develop strong, positive relationships, rooted in our Christian Faith, both within school and beyond, including the church, parents and the community. To ensure all children know they are deeply loved, supported and that they belong here as part of our school family. | To provide a calm, nurturing environment where children are active partners in their learning, motivated and inspired to achieve their ultimate best. To deliver a stimulating, inclusive and ambitious curriculum where every child, including those with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds, is supported to make the best progresspossible. To enable children to take pride in all that they do by celebrating their own achievements and those of others. | To develop children’s resilience so that they embrace challenge and take positive risks as part of their growth. To cultivate imagination, curiosity, and creativity, inspiring children to become the best possible versions of themselves. To value and respect others both in school and within the wider community, encouraging all to be courageous advocates and responsible citizens in an ever-changing world, grounded in our Christian Faith |
Our Logo and Values
We are St. Matthew’s Church of England Primary School, and we sit in the heart of Little Lever serving the whole community alongside St. Matthew’s Church. Our school logo has been carefully designed to reflect our vision of what we want for the children, staff, families and governors at St. Matthew’s.

At the centre of our logo is a simple cross. As a Church of England Primary School, we are proud to have Christ at the centre of school life. The two children represent our school community and they can be seen reaching for the stars as we encourage all children to shine.
Love: references the Christian faith of the school, an individual’s beliefs and values, love for each other and to know that we are loved.
Learn: We come to school to ‘get better at things’. To make the best progress we can, to make mistakes and learn from them.
Grow: To grow as a person, as a friend, as a learner, as a citizen and to understand our place in the world.
At the base of our logo are five coloured blocks. These represent our Christian Values: Faith, Hope, Love, Honesty and Justice. Our school stands firmly on these values and they underpin everything that we do.
We believe that our school values and aims promote the fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
